Canadian Relations

The Secrétariat du Québec aux relations canadiennes (SQRC) ensures the defence and promotion of Québec's interests in the context of its relations with Canada.

The Secrétariat fulfils this mandate by:

• being active on the Canadian intergovernmental scene: see Intergovernmental Relations;
• ensuring that Québec’s constitutional jurisdictions and the integrity of its institutions are respected: see Institutions and Constitution;
• acting as the Government of Québec’s memory regarding Canadian relations and on federalism:
  • Past Positions,
  • Canadian Federalism;
• ensuring monitoring and strategic reflection on key issues pertaining to Canadian relations and federated governance
• participating in the elaboration and implementation of federal policies and programs in Canada that have an impact on Québec’s development: see Intergovernmental Agreements;
• putting forward Québec’s vision in public debates while strengthening interaction between actors of civil society in Québec and in Canada:
  • Research support program (PAR);
  • Actions regarding the Canadian Francophonie;
  • Representation of Québec in Canada.
